Protecting our members privacy is particularly important to us. So that members can feel in control of their personal information, we have developed this Privacy Statement to be clear about the information we collect and how it is used.
FNA-UK is a membership organisation founded:
“To provide a forum for Zimbabwean Nurses in the United Kingdom to network and discuss issues of collective interest that have an effect on us all, including signposting members to the right authorities if they have specific individual issues that need to be addressed” (ZiMNA UK Constitution and By-Laws).:
ZiMNA UK collects and processes certain personal information without explicit consent that is in the legitimate interests of the association. The information collected helps us provide our services including administering membership records, balloting members, organising activities, promoting what we do, and supporting our officers and volunteers.:
All information is provided by members voluntarily through our online membership application form on the ‘MEMBERSHIP’ page of this website. This information personally identifies them, for example: name, postal and email addresses. A small amount of information requested on our online membership application form is mandatory so that we can maintain a membership record, the rest of the information is optional. Assignment of a member to an ZiMNA UK region is based on the postcode that the member supplies.
We use the information that members provide to enable us to deliver and tailor our services.
We only keep members information for as long as a member wishes to maintain their membership of ZiMNA UK and where there is a legitimate reason for ZiMNA UK to do so.
We do not share member information outside ZiMNA UK.
Summary or aggregated data (for example membership numbers) which do not identify any individual may be shared with other organisations where it is in the legitimate interests of ZiMNA UK to do so.
ZiMNA UK membership data is kept by our data processor on a secure server. Data may be held in Microsoft Excel Workbooks and / or Access Databases, email address books and distribution lists.
Data may be shared with other agencies where it is in the legitimate interests of ZiMNA UK and its members to do so.
Online privacy and security are some of the most important aspects of any member service and we take them extremely seriously.
However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, ZiMNA UK cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we use all reasonable efforts to try to ensure its security both on our systems and while in transit. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal data.
Our website is secure which means that it utilizes SSL , which stands for Secure Sockets Layer, a standard security technology that establishes an encrypted connection between a web server and a browser. We do not collect data related to the use of our website.
All computers on our data processor’s network are protected by up-to-date security software. There is no external access to the network, backup server or desktop computer.
We restrict access to personal data to those officers and volunteers who need to know that information in order to communicate with and provide products or services to members.
Data is backed-up by our data processor to a password protected network server six days per week and monthly.
In addition, data is backed-up daily to a commercial cloud-based backup service. This backup data is password protected and encrypted and cannot be used directly. It will only be used to restore data in the event of data loss or corruption. This encrypted backup data may be held on servers outside the European Economic Area.

ZiMNA UK currently does not set any cookies. You may see the cookie PHPSESSID listed in connection with our website, this is a cookie automatically generated by the server to help manage sessions and it does not capture any personal data.
Members have rights in relation to the information that we hold about them. These rights include:
- the right to know what information we hold about them and to obtain information about how we process it;
- the right to request that we rectify member information if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- the right to request that we erase member information. Should the request include the deletion of ZiMNA UK mandatory information (see Collecting Member Information above) then this shall be deemed to be a cancellation of membership.
